Hard Hats and Disco Lights: Two Recruiting Rooms at SHPE

How Mortenson and Rockwell Automation used our booths to break the ice with students

A student in a white hard hat threw both arms in the air. Disco lights spun around the room. Behind him, a line of people waited to talk to a recruiter.

That was Mortenson's hospitality room at SHPE.

Two companies, two rooms, one goal

SHPE is the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. On October 28, 2026, two companies set up recruiting rooms at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. Mortenson and Rockwell Automation each wanted to meet students and young engineers.

They both hired us to add a little fun to the room.

  • Mortenson used two booths. Our Tap & Pose selfie booth sat in front of a royal-blue curtain. Our overhead 360 video booth ran under disco lights. Every photo and video came with a Mortenson frame.
  • Rockwell Automation ran our overhead 360 video booth. Their videos had a custom frame with their logo and the Latinx Engineers ROK graphic.

A recruiting event is not a party

We want to be honest about this part. At a recruiting event, the booth is not the main event. The conversation is.

Students came to meet the teams. Lines formed to talk to recruiters. People used the booths, but they used them in the quiet minutes between conversations. That is exactly what a booth should do at a room like this.

It gave students a break. It gave them something to laugh about. It gave them a photo with the company name on it, ready to post.

The moments we loved

  • Hard-hat group shot. Five guests in white hard hats threw up peace signs in front of the blue curtain.
  • Arms up in the 360. One guest cheered with both arms in the air under the disco lights.
  • Waves and smiles. Guests waved and laughed in the Rockwell frames, with the 360 platform glowing behind them.

Planning a recruiting or career event?

A booth will not replace your recruiters. It can help them. It starts a conversation, gives people a reason to stay a few minutes longer, and puts your logo in students' phones.

If your team is at a conference or career fair in Indianapolis, we can build it around your brand. Branded frames, instant sharing, and a trained attendant come with every booking.
